“Why is my business not performing and how can I fix it?”
There are essentially three reasons why a business underperforms:
- The owner has fallen out of love with it and doesn’t know how to reignite that lost love.
- The owner is distracted by events elsewhere in life, be it marital issues, ageing parents, or children who are struggling.
- The owner hasn’t looked far enough into the future, and has not evolved their business from the very first moment it was established.
Irrespective of the 'why', it’s all about the advisor asking the owner what’s happening in their lives, and how they’d like to change it. That ultimately might involve selling out, re-modelling the business or shutting the doors. However, first and foremost, it’s about affording owners the freedom to choose to no longer do what they do. Then it’s about drilling down on what it is they truly would love to do and helping them create that path.
