Oxlade Financial is a Brisbane-based independent financial planning firm that provides ongoing, comprehensive advice to clients all over Australia. We work with clients over the long term, helping them make informed decisions and stay on track as their lives and goals evolve.
Our advice is tailored, practical and based on a deep understanding of each client’s full financial position. We build long-term relationships with our clients, so we can provide meaningful support across all areas of their financial lives. Our approach is entirely goals-based – we work with clients to determine the goals that matter most to them, and provide advice that gets them where they want to go, as quickly and safely as possible. We are very client-centric and relationship oriented – we do believe this is something that sets us apart. It’s not just about financial strategies — it’s about giving clients clarity and confidence.
We’re proud to be one of only ~2% of financial planning firms in Australia that are legally declared as Independent. That means we don’t accept commissions or have ties to any product providers — our advice is completely conflict-free and focused solely on what’s right for our clients.
Our team includes some of the most qualified advisers in the country, with every adviser holding either a CFP® designation or a Master’s degree. Clients value our technical expertise, but equally, they appreciate the care, consistency and support we provide throughout the journey.
What has been your greatest success?
Our greatest success has been the trust placed in us by our clients. Our clients stay with us year on year, and they refer their friends and family to us. This ongoing trust is something we never take for granted, and has absolutely underpinned our business performance to date.
What do you value about FBA?
We have owned our own family businesses for the best part of the last decade. Family businesses face unique challenges and unique opportunities – being part of the FBA allows us to meet, share and learn from other peers who walk the same journey. We absolutely love running a family business – it’s a wild ride at times, juggling the business and the family and everything in between, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. We are really inspired by hearing and seeing the stories of other family businesses first hand.
What advice would you give to other family businesses?
Divide and conquer. For us, as a husband and wife team, we work well as a team because we have very clear, but very differentiated, responsibilities. We look after different aspects of the business, and wholeheartedly trust each other to make the right decisions in our respective areas. It allows us to avoid overlap and remain efficient, to keep the focus where it needs to be, and to provide clarity to the team.
