The History of Chas Clarkson

Chas Clarkson is a family-owned business that has been providing display materials and retail solutions to businesses in Australia for over 100 years. Charles Augustus Clarkson founded the company in 1902, printing price tickets for local retailers using a small hand press. Over time, the business expanded to include foil blocking, label production, and other print-related services.

During World War I, Chas's eldest son, Alban, enlisted in the army and sadly did not return. Chas continued to grow the business, moving it to larger premises several times and eventually passing it down to his remaining three sons: Reg, George, and Len. During World War II, the company played a crucial role in producing labels essential to the aircraft construction and fire control industries.

After the war, Chas Clarkson focused more on retail display materials, adding products such as point-of-purchase displays, signage, and banners. In the 1950s and 1960s, the company worked on high-profile projects, including election posters and calligraphy for government buildings.

The company continued to expand and evolve in the following decades, introducing new products and services such as Christmas decorations and event props. Today, Chas Clarkson is a third-generation family led by Tim and Mike Clarkson, who have continued the tradition of innovation and excellence set forth by their ancestors.

Chas Clarkson's commitment to quality and customer service has allowed them to thrive in an ever-changing retail landscape. As they look towards the future, they remain dedicated to creating magical and memorable experiences for their clients and communities.
