Join us at a local spot and catch up with people who understand the ups and downs of working in, and with, family businesses. There’s no formal agenda, just a welcoming, easy-going space to chat, share experiences, and exchange ideas.
These evenings are all about meeting new people, learning from each other and great company. You might pick up new ideas, meet a new customer or collaborator from the family business sector, or find common ground to help you in your business.

Strathmore Hotel
The Strathmore has something for everyone. Owned by the same family since 1972, The Strathmore is the perfect spot to enjoy lunch, dinner or drinks in the heart of Adelaide’s CBD. The Strathmore opened in 1855, making it one of South Australia's oldest continually licensed hotels.
In 1944, it was purchased by the O’Brien family, who owned several hotels in the area, including the famous South Australian Hotel, now the site of the Stamford. During World War II, the hotel was used as officers’ quarters for the air force.
In 1972, the hotel was purchased by the Basheer family, and it remains in the same family over 50 years later.
Finding Us
There are many car parks near the Strathmore Hotel, including on Blyth Street, Hindley Street, and the Adelaide Convention Centre. When you arrive, ask for the booking under 'Amanda Russell' or 'Family Business Association'.
